4 Tips for Preparing Your Vehicle for Winter from Clean Getaway Auto Detail Center
Winter is here, so if you haven’t already, you should make sure that your vehicle is ready for the cold temperatures, ice, and snow. In this post, Clean Getaway auto detail center shares four tips for preparing your vehicle for winter.
Check under your vehicle’s hood.
While it’s important to take care of your vehicle throughout the year, it’s especially important in winter. First, you should make sure that all of your fluids are topped off. You should also talk to your mechanic about changing your oil to winter-grade oil that will keep your engine lubricated properly as the temperatures drop and the oil’s viscosity is affected. You should also have your battery tested. There is nothing worse than a dead battery in the middle of winter.
Inspect your tires.
As the temperature gets lower, you lose air pressure in your tires. In fact, you can lose up to one pound of pressure for every ten degrees the temperature falls. Making sure your tires are inflated properly will give you more control on snowy, icy roads. If your vehicle handles poorly in the winter, even with properly inflated tires, it may be a good idea to look into getting snow tires.
Inspect your vehicle’s exterior.
First, you should make sure that all of your lights are working properly. You should also make sure that your windshield wipers are in good condition.
Keep an emergency kit.
Your emergency kit should include the following.
- Blankets and warm outerwear
- Jumper cables
- Tow rope
- Kitty litter or sand if you need extra traction
- Nutritious snacks and water
At Clean Getaway auto detail center, we know that as the roads get slippery and the weather gets colder, it’s critical to do everything to keep yourself and your family safe!
