Take Care of Your Car this Summer with These Five Tips from Your Kalamazoo Car Detailing Center

In this post, Clean Getaway, you Kalamazoo car detailing center, shares five tips for taking for of your car this summer.

Check your oil. It’s important to check your oil more frequently in the summer. In fact, it’s a good idea to check it every time you fill up your tank – especially if you have an older vehicle or one that burns oil. If you notice your oil is low before it’s time for your oil change, you should have your vehicle checked to see if you have a leak or other issue. You should also make sure you change your oil and oil filter as recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

Frequently check your vehicle’s fluid levels. As it gets warmer, your fluid levels may get too low. You should check your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and windshield wiper fluid at the beginning of the season and periodically throughout the season. There is nothing worse than breaking down in the heat because your vehicle’s fluids are not full.

Check your tire pressure. Between extreme weather conditions and potholes, Michigan roads are hard on your tires. You should check your tire pressure and monitor it especially during temperature changes. Also, don’t forget to check your spare tire. The only worse than a flat tire is a flat spare.

Have your alignment checked. Like your tires, Michigan roads are rough on your vehicle’s alignment. While there are telltale signs that your alignment is off like your vehicle pulling to one side or your steering wheel vibrating or being off center when you’re driving straight, sometimes there are no obvious signs. Have your alignment checked and corrected at the beginning and end of the summer season.

Have your battery tested. While many people check their battery in the winter – which is also important – heat is actually a major cause of battery failure. Don’t find yourself stranded in the heat with a dead battery!
